At Platinum Business Services LLC, our vision is to solve the complex technical problems of tomorrow by empowering the innovators of today. We are proud to announce our continued sponsorship and support of the Squirrels (Team 6863), a local FIRST® Robotics Competition team based in Woodbine, Maryland.

Comprised of dedicated junior and senior high school students from across the region, the Squirrels are more than a team—they are a homegrown incubator for Maryland’s future engineering and technology leaders.

A Legacy of Excellence and Grit

Since their rookie year in 2018, the Squirrels have consistently demonstrated what is possible when young minds are given the tools to succeed. Affiliated with NASA and the Office of Naval Research (ONR), the team has built a reputation for resilience and technical skill, earning accolades ranging from the Rookie Inspiration Award to becoming District Event Winners.

For the 2026 season, the team is competing with their latest creation, REBUILT™, a testament to their ability to iterate, troubleshoot, and master complex systems. Watching the team compete at events like the Pasadena and Severn District competitions inspires us to continue our mission of fostering local talent.

How Platinum Supports the Journey

Platinum’s involvement with the Squirrels and PIE3 (Partnership and Inspiration for Engineering Education and Entrepreneurship) is a multi-faceted investment in the local STEM ecosystem:

  • Fueling Technical Agility: Robotics requires rapid prototyping and sophisticated software integration. Our support ensures the team has access to the high-grade materials and components needed to compete at a professional level.
  • Mentorship and Professional Growth: Beyond the robot, we support the “business” of the team—helping students refine their technical writing, branding, and presentation skills. These are the essential “soft skills” that turn talented students into successful career professionals.
  • Building a Tech Pipeline: By supporting a team that works alongside major agencies like NAVSEA and NASA, we are helping students see a clear path from their local workshop to the forefront of the global aerospace and defense industry.

The Children’s Inn at NIH

Platinum is proud to financially support the Children’s Inn at the National Institute of Health (NIH). We contribute to providing residential services and programs to children, teens and young adults who have rare and serious diseases whose best hope is receiving treatment at the NIH center.

Burtonsville Athletic Association

Platinum supports the Burtonsville Athletic Association (BAA) which offers both recreational and travel league baseball and softball teams. We believe participating in sports helps develop valuable skills like teamwork, time management and sportsmanship.

The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Foundation

The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Foundation is an organization that works to serve the community, elevating education through research and training initiatives. Platinum aims to be a continued sponsor in maintaining MCCCF’s ongoing efforts and initiatives. Additionally, they support our veterans through the Veteran Institute for Procurement (VIP) which is the first-ever program in the nation to train Veteran Owned Small businesses.

Partnership and Inspiration for Engineering Education and Entrepreneurship (PIE3)

Platinum aims to inspire young minds the best it can. PIE3, the only nonprofit supporting K-12 Robotics in Carroll County through FIRST Robotics Competitions, strives to enable every student to join teams emphasizing not just robot building but also community outreach, and STEM access based on the principle of “Gracious Professionalism.”

Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation

Following 9/11 the Tunnel to Towers foundation was established to assist America’s hero’s by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families by building specially adapted smart homes for injured veterans and first responders. In addition, their commitment to eradicating veteran homelessness and helping America to Never Forget September 11th, 2001, speaks to Platinum’s SDVOSB identity.

JEFFHope at Thomas Jefferson University

Proud sponsors of JeffHOPE, Platinum endorses their mission to enhance healthcare access for Philadelphia’s homeless. Founded in 1991 by medical students, JeffHOPE provides vital medical care, emotional support, and health education through free clinics. We are honored to support this impactful initiative, contributing to the well-being of our communities.
